Hamilton Law Scientific is a micro legal services business based in the South West of the UK. Harry Hamilton Jennings, the main consultant of HLS, is a solicitor in the jurisdiction of England and Wales who saw an opportunity to provide commercial law services to clients with innovative products and services, including businesses interested in the innovative and competitive life sciences sector.
Our base is in Corsham in Wiltshire, where we can easily get to clients and meetings in the surrounding towns and anywhere on the M4 or trainline between London and Bristol. In particular, Harry focuses on serving clients in Bristol, Bath, Swindon, Reading (and the wider Thames Valley), Oxford (including the science parks in the Oxford/Didcot area). We are happy to travel further afield, including across borders. Bristol is where Harry trained to be a lawyer, and now Harry sees the South West as a potential future hotspot for life sciences and other innovative businesses.
Science and the technology that comes out of scientific advances have always inspired Harry since he became interested in the natural world as a youngster. Harry studied genetics at the University of Nottingham before switching his focus onto law. Harry qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2012. He worked as a general commercial lawyer for a wide variety of clients in a range of sectors before gradually specialising in commercial law in the life sciences sector. After working in private practice and as in house counsel for a prominent drug manufacturer, Harry became a specialist senior editor for Practical Law’s life sciences service.
Hamilton Law Scientific is a consultancy company (Hamilton Law Scientific Limited). Although Harry and our other (prospective) consultants are qualified solicitors, the company, which employs or engages them, is not regulated by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA). Due to recent reforms in the regulation of legal services, that type of regulation is limited to prescribed "reserved activities". HLS does not undertake reserved activities. Our consultants are, however, bound by the normal high standards expected of solicitors by the SRA.
For regulated firms of solicitors, the SRA requires that they obtain a minimum level of insurance. As we are not regulated in that way, we do not need to comply with that requirement. However, we have business insurance that covers the failures of our consultants. We provide transparent information on this in the client on-boarding process, which our clients are encouraged to consider carefully before proceeding.

At the moment it is just me, Harry, so I guess it should say "About me", but I am looking optimistically to Hamilton Law Scientific's future.
